Interceding For Sodom

Posted by wordforit on February 3, 2009

In the past few years, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis, Chapter 19 has been on the minds of many and the subject matter for any number of articles. Rarely, however, have I seen Abraham’s efforts to intercede brought forth.

It isn’t the ability of God that’s hard to accept. Rather, it’s the inability and unwillingness of humans to acknowledge Him in decisions and choices that’s hard to fathom. For those of us who continually seek to know and understand God’s will, Genesis, Chapter 18 is not a surprise.

Three men came to visit Abraham, two of whom were angels with the third being Yahweh himself (v1″And the Lord appeared. . .”; v13- He knew Sarah’s thoughts. Also, cf Judges 13:15-23, Manoah’s experience in not recognizing Yahweh immediately) . The visit concerned the promise that Sarah would bear a child and how she laughed inwardly, thinking how old she was to even consider conceiving a child. We should know by now that Isaac was, indeed, born.

Note: Of the three sent to Abraham, two are the ones we read of as being sent to Sodom to warn Lot (Gen. 18:16-22).

More to the point about Sodom and Gomorrah. In verses 23-33 of chapter 18, Abraham has been made aware of the intention to destroy Sodom. Abraham’s distress was toward the righteous that lived there, including his nephew and family, Lot and his clan.

It’s extraordinary that Abraham pled for the Lord to give that city a chance if fifty righteous individuals could be found living there. Are we consciously and diligently praying for those who are confused, without Salvation ? As the scripture progresses, the number becomes smaller until God agrees to allow the city to survive if only TEN righteous individuals can be found.

Ten righteous individuals to avoid destruction and it could not be accomplished!

Every now and then, I think back to the years spent with early teens in the public school system and how shocked I was by the flagrancy with which students began to display their carnality and extended knowledge of same.

A pattern began to emerge when Jerry Springer aired at noon from a local TV station. A substantive number of students would ask for a pass to the nurse around 11 a.m. so they would be home in time to watch JSpringer. As I realized the game plan, the subject came up one day with a group of seventh graders during “Life Skills” (that’s a whole other topic. Why are the government schools allowed to implement a class teaching what parents should be instilling?).

During the conversation, Jerry Springer’s show was integrated into the lesson by the students as a way of expressing and explaining their worldview. I wonder if JS knows or cares how many lives he has influenced. Several of the students watch that depraved, soul-stealing, gut-wrenchingly sick nonsense with parents and/or parents’ approval. That small group in Small Town, USA made me aware of what future generations will think is acceptable behavior, with the exception of the few who are taught early-on to discern evil. JS is the proverbial tip of the iceberg, and evil is more serious than an easy-to-decide right from wrong in whether to steal a pencil from the teacher.

My thoughts many times would be, “And they’ll be voting in a few years”. Guess what? That would be the very group who are now 18-20 years old! Are they the ones who, having been fed an enormous amount of talk-court show drama, were chanting Na-na-na-na, hey, hey,hey good-bye to President Bush while weeping over and worshipping the one who is claiming entitlement? That would be the one who doesn’t believe in “those obscure verses in Romans” and proclaims that ‘we can set up our own kingdom right here on earth‘.

Who’s going to set up what kingdom?! Are these the ones we’ve been waiting for so that Jesus says, “That’s about enough of that!”? I’m ready, but my heart breaks for the many who aren’t and have become mired in worldly endeavors via corrupt political and religious systems. A Christian cannot and should not separate ‘religion and politics’ in the sense of leaving God out of any facet of life, but what we have witnessed for decades now requires divine intervention like never before!

Just as in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, many are living riotously rather than righteously. Many are living for revelry rather than live reverently. Many are living in reveries rather than reality. When the trumpet sounds, they will attempt to play a trump card.

Speaking of trump cards, I highly recommend a visit to www.gracethrufaith.com. Jack Kelley has an excellent site with a particularly interesting and admirable approach to reading the Bible. In an article written as if John is ‘telling’ us his revelation, Mr. Kelley allows John to discuss the folk who worship satan as the ‘good guy’ while believing God is the ‘bad guy’, which identifies the blind leading the blind ‘trump card’. Worthy of thought, study, and prayer, I excerpted a section below. http://gracethrufaith.com/the-bible-thru-the-eyes-of-its-writers/the-revelation-story/#more-440

To augment understanding, from a truly Christian perspective, I also implore you to visit www.inplainsite.org, especially their recent addition referencing the background and activities of the Luciferian Doctrine/Lucis Trust, spoken of in the Revelation story on GraceThruFaith. http://www.inplainsite.org/html/alice_bailey_and_lucis_trust.html

Also in the IPS superlatively informative article, we should recognize the international humanitarian and welfare speak becoming so prevalent from many directions. Of course we should look out for others but we should also be wise enough to know when a wolf is disguised as a sheep and when we are thought of as weak sheep being led to slaughter. Wise as serpents, harmless as doves, Matthew 10:16 (if you’ve never read Matthew, Chapter 10, it might clarify a lot of Christianity’s stands.)

We are not in trouble, nor should we fear. We should be praying and seeking God’s providence, as Abraham did, over all that we recognize as ‘The Plan’ in the final struggle between good and evil.

Romans (the non-obscure-unless-you-don’t-like-it book of the Bible) 1:20 is clear that there will not be an excuse for rejecting God’s truth nor for a lackadaisical attitude in professing His eternal power and Godhead.

He has been manifested to each and every one of us, as promised.

The following is John “speaking” about The Revelation (excerpt from chapter 9.Emphasis and links added by WFI):

From: http://gracethrufaith.com/the-bible-thru-the-eyes-of-its-writers/the-revelation-story/#more-440

. . . “You’d think with those demonic locusts attacking only non-believers and 3 billion people being killed from wars and other disasters, that people would be flocking to the Lord in search of comfort and security. But this just didn’t happen, and I’ll tell you why.

There is a belief floating around that’s as old as mankind but in the last days will become a religion that deceives almost everybody. It’s called the Luciferian Doctrine and understanding it helps explain why the world won’t turn to its Creator in this, the worst time in human history. The Luciferian doctrine is named of course after Lucifer, a Latin name that translates “light bearer”, and holds that Lucifer is the good guy trying to enlighten the people of the world in preparation for the spiritual evolution necessary to bring peace to all mankind. According to Luciferian Doctrine our physical evolution is finished and all we need to do now is throw off the bonds of Judeo-Christian thinking to complete our spiritual evolution and enter into the Utopian Era. But Lucifer’s being hindered in all this by the evil Adonai (Hebrew for Lord) Who, along with His followers, is working to thwart Lucifer’s grand plan by requiring everyone to adhere to His reactionary religion, effectively preventing our spiritual evolution. In order for humanity to achieve Utopia those who insist on clinging to their obsolete Judeo- Christian faith have to be eliminated. The Great Tribulation is characterized in Luciferian Doctrine as the evil Adonai’s last great effort to destroy mankind’s “light bearer” and prevent our ascension into Utopia, keeping us in bondage to Him.

Following the church’s disappearance the Truth became pretty scarce on Earth and whole world was deceived into believing the Luciferian Doctrine just as my friend Paul warned would happen (2 Thes. 2:9-12). So naturally, thinking the Lord is the bad guy, they became even more intense in their worship of Lucifer, hoping that he would prevail and bring an end to their suffering. (There is a way that seems right to man, but the end thereof is death … Prov. 14:12) Lucifer, of course, is also widely known as Satan or The Devil.”. . .

From: http://www.inplainsite.org/html/alice_bailey_and_lucis_trust.html

. . .”The Christ?: And who is this ‘Christ’ they look for. The answer becomes very simple when we remember that Theosophy (below [on IPS site]) views Lucifer as one of the

“solar Angels”… advanced beings who, according to Theosophy, descended (thus “the fall”) from Venus to our planet eons ago to ‘help’ man. The descent of these solar Angels was not a fall into sin or disgrace, but rather an act of great sacrifice, as is suggested in the name “Lucifer” which means light-bearer”.

In other words the antichrist.

David Spangler considered one of the founding figures of the modern New Age movement, initially influenced by Bailey, was instrumental in helping establish Findhorn in northern Scotland. His web site [http://davidspangler.com/] says that he has, since 1965, “worked clairvoyantly with a group of non-physical beings from the inner worlds of spirit”. In his book Reflections On The Christ, he portrays Lucifer as a positive influence on man who desires the best for humanity, saying

“Lucifer is literally the angel of experience. Lucifer, then, is neither good or bad in his true essence. He is completely neutral. He is an agent of God’s love acting through evolution.”.

The New Group Of World Servers

IPS (Institute for Planetary Synthesis) [IPS also happens to be the abbreviation for InPlainSite, from where this portion is excerpted.wfi], an organization located in Geneva, has on its site a page called The New Group Of World Servers, which quoting from various Bailey books, says

“These men and women of goodwill must be found and organized and thus discover their numerical potency – for it is there. They must form a world group, standing for right human relations and educating the public in the nature and power of goodwill. They will thus create a world public opinion which will be so forceful and so outspoken on the side of human welfare that leaders, statesmen, politicians, businessmen, and churchmen will be forced to listen and comply. Steadily and regularly, the general public must be taught an internationalism and a world unity which is based on simple goodwill and on cooperative interdependence.” (7)

They then go on to talk of The Ten Seed Groups among whom are Telepathic Communicators, who “are receptive to impression from the Masters and from each other”, Educators in the New Age, who “will work to bring in the new type of education” and Political organizers, whose major objective is “The bringing about of international understanding”. These Ten Seed Groups…

“…are in process of being “esoterically anchored” in the field of the world… to precipitate and further the growth of the Kingdom of God in such a manner that this fifth kingdom in nature may be a tangible, factual and objective occurrence upon the Earth.”. . .

Hope Rides Alone

Posted by wordforit on April 27, 2008

SGT. Edmund John Jeffer’s last few words were some of the most touching, inspiring and most truthful words spoken since the tragedy of 9/11 – and our nation went to war.

SGT. Jeffers was a strong soldier and talented writer. He died in Iraq on September 19, 2007.

He was a loving husband, brother and son. His service was more than this country could ever grasp – but the least you can do for the man who sacrificed his life for you … is listen to what he had to say.

Hope Rides Alone
By Eddie Jeffers

I stare out into the darkness from my post, and I watch the city burn to the ground. I smell the familiar smells, I walk through the familiar rubble, and I look at the frightened faces that watch me pass down the streets of their neighborhoods. My nerves hardly rest; my hands are steady on a device that has been given to me from my government for taking the lives of others.

I sweat, and I am tired. My back aches from the loads I carry. Young American boys look to me to direct them in a manner that will someday allow them to see their families s again…and yet, I too, am just a boy…my age not but a few years more e than that of the ones I lead. I am stressed, I am scared, and I am paranoid…because death is everywhere. It waits for me, it calls to me from around street corners and windows, and it is always there.

There are the demons that follow me, and tempt me into thoughts and actions that are not my own…but that are necessary for survival. I’ve made compromises with my humanity. And I am not alone in this. Miles from me are my brethren in this world, who walk in the same streets… who feel the same things, whether they admit to it or not.

And to think, I volunteered for this…

And I am ignorant to the rest of the world…or so I thought.

But even thousands of miles away, in Ramadi, Iraq, the cries and screams and complaints of the ungrateful reach me. In a year, I will be thrust back into society from a life and mentality that doesn’t fit your average man. And then, I will be alone. And then, I will walk down the streets of America, and see the yellow ribbon stickers on the cars of the same people who compare our President to Hitler.

I will watch the television and watch the Cindy Sheehans, and the Al Frankens, and the rest of the ignorant sheep of America spout off their mouths about a subject they know nothing about. It is their right, however, and it is a right that is defended by hundreds of thousands of boys and girls scattered across the world, far from home. I use the word boys and girls, because that’s what they are. In the Army, the average age of the infantryman is nineteen years old.  The average rank of soldiers killed in action is Private First Class.

People like Cindy Sheehan are ignorant. Not just to this war, but to the results of their idiotic ramblings, or at least I hope they are. They don’t realize its effects on this war. In this war, there are no Geneva Conventions, no cease-fires. Medics and Chaplains are not spared from the enemy’s brutality because it’s against the rules. I can only imagine the horrors a military Chaplain would experience at the hands of the enemy.

The enemy slinks in the shadows and fights a coward’s war against us. It is effective though, as many men and women have died since the start of this war. And the memory of their service to America  is tainted by the inconsiderate remarks on our nation’s news outlets. And every day, the enemy changes…only now, the enemy is becoming something new. The enemy is transitioning from the Muslim extremists to Americans. The enemy is becoming the very people whom we defend with our lives. And they do not realize it.

But in denouncing our actions, denouncing our leaders, denouncing the war we live and fight, they are isolating the military from society…and they are becoming our enemy.

Democrats and peace activists like to toss the word ‘quagmire’ around and compare this war to Vietnam. In a way they are right, this war is becoming like Vietnam. Not the actual war, but in the isolation of country and military. America is not a nation at war; they are a nation with its military at war. Like it or not, we are here, some of us for our second, or third time,    some, even for their fourth and so on. Americans are so concerned now with politics that it is interfering with our war.

Terrorists cut the heads off American citizens on the Internet…and there is no outrage, but an American soldier kills an Iraqi in the midst of battle, and there are investigations, and sometimes soldiers are even jailed…for doing their job.

It is absolutely sickening to me to think our country has come to this. Why are we so obsessed with the bad news? Why will people stop at nothing to be against this war, no matter how much evidence of the good we’ve done is thrown in their face? When is the last time CNN or MSNBC or CBS reported the opening of schools and hospitals in Iraq? Or the leaders of terror cells being detained or killed? It’s all happening, but people will not let up their hatred of Bush. They will ignore the good news, because it just might show people that Bush was right.

America has lost its will to fight. It has lost its will to defend what is right and just in the world. The crazy thing of it all is that the American people have not even been asked to sacrifice a single thing. It’s not like World War Two, where people rationed food, and turned in cars to be made into metal for tanks. The American people have not been asked to sacrifice anything. Unless you are in the military or the family member of a service member, its life as usual…the war doesn’t affect you.

But it affects us. And when it is over, and the troops come home, and they try to piece together what’s left of them after their service…where will the detractors be then? Where will the Cindy Sheehans be to comfort and talk to soldiers and help them sort out the last couple years of their lives, most of which have been spent dodging death and wading through the deaths of their friends? They will be where they always are, somewhere far away, where the horrors of the world can’t touch them. Somewhere where they can complain about things they will never experience in their lifetime; things that the young men and women of America have willingly taken upon their shoulders.

We are the hope of the Iraqi people. They want what everyone else wants in life:  safety, security, somewhere to call home. They want a country that is safe to raise their children in. Not a place where their children will be abducted, raped, and murdered if they do not comply with the terrorists demands. They want to live on, rebuild and prosper. And America has given them the opportunity, but only if we stay true to the cause, and see it to its end. But the country must unite in this endeavor…we cannot place the burden on our military alone.

We must all stand up and fight, whether in uniform or not.  And supporting us is more than sticking yellow ribbon Stickers on your cars. It’s supporting our President, our troops and our cause.

Right now, the burden is all on the American soldiers. Right now, hope rides alone. But it can change, it must change because there is only failure and darkness ahead for us as a country, as a people, if it doesn’t.

Let’s stop all the political nonsense; let’s stop all the bickering; let’s stop all the bad news; and let’s stand and fight!

Eddie’s father, David Jeffers, writes:

I’m not sure how many letters or articles you’ve ever read from the genre of ‘News from the Front,’ but this is one of the best I’ve ever read, including all of America‘s wars. As I was reading this, I forgot that it was my son who had written it. My emotions range from great pride to great sorrow, knowing that my little boy (22 years old) has become this man.
He is my hero. Thank all of you for your prayers for him; he needs them now more than ever. God bless.
Though Eddie is no longer with us, you can help to let his voice be heard, pass this one on.

“Carthage was once called “the eternal rival of Rome” but its preeminence and impact waned as it “sank into debauchery and dissipation as a result of great wealth and luxury.” Law and order were destroyed from within. Moreover, the rich young men of Carthage no longer wanted to serve in the military so they hired mercenaries to do their fighting. But when the army came into fierce conflict with Rome and other adversaries, the mercenaries ran and left the nation defenseless. Carthage fell to Rome in 146 B.C., and the first act of the Roman legions was to restore law and order.

In these and many other examples, social decay led to the decline and fall of a great civilization. If we are to prevent a repeat of history, then we must learn from these lessons of history. “

Why Americans Will Believe Almost Anything

Posted by wordforit on April 26, 2008

From politics, to religion, to food, to ‘simple shopping’, guarding one’s interests through reading and reading some more is a necessity is a media-hyped-saturated environment. Prudence rules.

Read down to “Characteristics of Good Propaganda” then read the entire piece—should ‘begin’ to sound familiar.  ~WFI

The Doors of Perception:

Why Americans Will Believe Almost Anything

By Tim O’Shea

Original: TheDoctorWithin

Excerpted from: Rense

[. . .] It is an exhausting and endless task to keep explaining to people how most issues of conventional wisdom are scientifically implanted in the public consciousness by a thousand media clips per day. In an effort to save time, I would like to provide just a little background on the handling of information in this country. Once the basic principles are illustrated about how our current system of media control arose historically, the reader might be more apt to question any given popular opinion.

If everybody believes something, it’s probably wrong. We call that Conventional Wisdom.

In America, conventional wisdom that has mass acceptance is usually contrived: somebody paid for it.

[. . .] During the next several decades, Bernays and his colleagues evolved the principles by which masses of people could be generally swayed through messages repeated over and over hundreds of times. Once the value of media became apparent, other countries of the world tried to follow our lead. But Bernays really was the gold standard. Josef Goebbels, who was Hitler’s minister of propaganda, studied the principles of Edward Bernays when Goebbels was developing the popular rationale he would use to convince the Germans that they had to purify their race. (Stauber)

[. . .] LESSON #1

Bernays learned early on that the most effective way to create credibility for a product or an image was by “independent third-party” endorsement. For example, if General Motors were to come out and say that global warming is a hoax thought up by some liberal tree-huggers, people would suspect GM’s motives, since GM’s fortune is made by selling automobiles. If however some independent research institute with a very credible sounding name like the Global Climate Coalition comes out with a scientific report that says global warming is really a fiction, people begin to get confused and to have doubts about the original issue.

So that’s exactly what Bernays did. With a policy inspired by genius, he set up “more institutes and foundations than Rockefeller and Carnegie combined.” (Stauber p 45) Quietly financed by the industries whose products were being evaluated, these “independent” research agencies would churn out “scientific” studies and press materials that could create any image their handlers wanted. Such front groups are given high-sounding names like:

Temperature Research Foundation International Food Information Council Consumer Alert The Advancement of Sound Science Coalition Air Hygiene Foundation Industrial Health Federation International Food Information Council Manhattan Institute Center for Produce Quality Tobacco Institute Research Council Cato Institute American Council on Science and Health Global Climate Coalition Alliance for Better Foods

Sound legit don’t they?

[. . .] They learned quickly that mob psychology must focus on emotion, not facts. Since the mob is incapable of rational thought, motivation must be based not on logic but on presentation. Here are some of the axioms of the new science of PR:

* technology is a religion unto itself * if people are incapable of rational thought, real democracy is dangerous * important decisions should be left to experts * when reframing issues, stay away from substance; create images * never state a clearly demonstrable lie

Words are very carefully chosen for their emotional impact. Here’s an example. A front group called the International Food Information Council handles the public’s natural aversion to genetically modified foods. Trigger words are repeated all through the text. Now in the case of GM foods, the public is instinctively afraid of these experimental new creations which have suddenly popped up on our grocery shelves which are said to have DNA alterations. The IFIC wants to reassure the public of the safety of GM foods, so it avoids words like:

Frankenfoods Hitler biotech chemical DNA experiments manipulate money safety scientists radiation roulette gene-splicing gene gun random

Instead, good PR for GM foods contains words like:

hybrids natural order beauty choice bounty cross-breeding diversity earth farmer organic wholesome.

It’s basic Freudian/Tony Robbins word association. The fact that GM foods are not hybrids that have been subjected to the slow and careful scientific methods of real cross-breeding doesn’t really matter. This is pseudoscience, not science. Form is everything and substance just a passing myth. (Trevanian)

Who do you think funds the International Food Information Council?

Take a wild guess. Right – Monsanto, DuPont, Frito-Lay, Coca Cola, Nutrasweet – those in a position to make fortunes from GM foods. (Stauber p 20)

As the science of mass control evolved, PR firms developed further guidelines for effective copy. Here are some of the gems:

– dehumanize the attacked party by labeling and name-calling

– speak in glittering generalities using emotionally positive words

– when covering something up, don’t use plain English; stall for time; distract

– get endorsements from celebrities, churches, sports figures, street people…anyone who has no expertise in the subject at hand

– the ‘plain folks’ ruse: us billionaires are just like you

– when minimizing outrage, don’t say anything memorable

– when minimizing outrage, point out the benefits of what just happened

– when minimizing outrage, avoid moral issues (emphasis WFI
