Regarding the Occult…

Posted by wordforit on November 4, 2007

25redicross.jpgListing the very practices we are warned against is an effort to bring awareness that certain things which have become standard, are persuasively dangerous. Who wouldn’t like to know if a brother or parent, etc., are happy on “the other side”? Which of us wouldn’t like to know what will show up in having our charts read? Faith is a key component in walking with Jesus! Humans have a soul satan incessantly seeks for perpetuity and entering his realm is saving him effort.  (Bold Red text=new window)

It cannot be stressed strongly enough that what we are dealing with and what we are condoning with our silence are destructive to our very being. I look at children (including my family), innocently being taught acceptance of others to the degree of uncertainty about right and wrong. I read an article in which American children are inadvertently hearing a message of hate for the USA at home, school, and elsewhere, therefore, they are confused about how to feel… the messages against Christianity are just as pervasive and the foundations are shaky. “”come out from among them, and be ye separate…”

2Corinthians 6:17 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Although we have to pray and study for answers regarding all issues, instruction is explicit in Deuteronomy 18:9-14 about avoiding practices of the occult:

Warning against Heathen Practices: 9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.”

And Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Some may not understand why God is so emphatic in His warnings against playing around with activities which seem harmless in fictionalized book versions, but satan is there, waiting to give you false power and knowledge, except that his is limited, so how much can he share of “not much”? He is, however, smarter than the average bear. The demons have been roaming for centuries, they know human nature and how to convince us that we are something we aren’t, whether it’s an inflated or deflated image. Frankly, I think the pride in not wanting to be made a fool of by unclean spirits is an acceptable type of pride! More importantly, though, is the aversion to allowing Jesus to be made into a joke!

Simply put, satan has already betrayed Almighty God, therefore, we are not to dabble in the realms of darkness, inviting and encouraging demonic motion. They know exactly what they’re doing!

Other verses I find relevant are Mark 1:24-26, indicating demons know Jesus,  the plan of salvation in James 2: 19, and Matthew 8:28-29 which tells that they know they’re doomed. Demons also have a well-developed system of doctrine 1Timothy 4:1-3.

Mark 1:24-26  Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Hold thy peace, and come out of him“. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The Gergesene Demoniacs: Matthew8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. 29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? (Note: “before the time?” Literally, before their time is up!)

Prediction of Apostasy: 1Timothy 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

God offers All, satan will deceive and make unfulfilled promises. In the end, satan will gladly take any of us to hell with him and these (below) are avenues for opening the door to his entire host. Jesus has defeated death and satan, all we have to do is BELIEVE IN JESUS AS THE SON OF GOD, THE SAVIOR. FREE invitation to heaven!!

Please, learn to recognize these and when something sounds remotely unbiblical.

Pray for wisdom.

Greetings and amen. It’s amazing how some; even professing saints, want to do a little “harmless dabbling” (nothing harmless about it) or read their horoscopes “just for fun.” These forces are real and anyone who dabbles is asking for trouble. I know people close to me who are really messed up because they went playing with fire.

I’m always perplexed by christians who see no problem with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or any of the other things satan is using to prepare the world to worship an image and receive a mark. I began attending my current fellowship in July and was initially concerned upon learning of their holding a harvest festival. Normally such events are an attempt to mimic the world. I remained concerned until I understood their purpose for the event. It’s in my current post, but last wednesday, sixteen souls came to Jesus. Three of them were parents. I think that one must be very careful when holding such an event, to stay focused on the mission, but people can be saved while the world unwittingly celebrates samhain.

Sorry for the long comment. If it’s ok, I want to link to this in the “blogger museum” when I get time. There, it will always be close to the forefront as opposed to becoming buried in the archives. Have a blessed day in Jesus.

Phew! Thank you for the Amen, timbob! This is a post I have worked on for a bit and was conflicted over. I would not want anyone to read any of the links without praying for guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit. It’s indeed another ploy that sounds so simplistic and, again, harmless. As we are taught, these are the very things that are creating so much havoc. Like you, I have some close to me who do not realize the seriousness of getting involved with anything of darkness. God is trying to protect us, not restrict! It’s sad and sickening that teachers are making Harry Potter required reading. We may be taken as alarmists, but it is equal to soul-snatching when young people are brought up to think it’s okay…
I also feel bad for those who are caught up in watching talk shows that seem edifying but are actually a part of New Age teachings. (The guests on Oprah and Montel are very deceptive, for instance, although Sylvia Brown on Montel should be a quick clue! She actually has books claiming to be from the Holy Spirit…)

Praise God for salvation any day, and especially on Halloween!!! That’s the best news I’ve heard in a while! Take the holiday away from darkness, indeed!

I’m always happy to hear from you, timbob, and appreciate your comment. Yours is definitely a blog to visit and I am happy you have the idea of this info not getting lost in the archives…help yourself! As usual, I’ll be by soon! God Bless and Keep You, good brother in Christ.

Lots of thought provoking material here. What I find myself thinking is how convincing Satan can be, and since he’s a “fair weather friend,” he quickly deserts his followers when they need him most.
